Oakwoods East is located north of Cliff Road between major transportation routes of Interstate Highway 35E and Highway 77 (Cedar Avenue). The building is near many shopping and retail opportunities and a movie theatre.

The building is part of the Dakota County Community Development Agency's (CDA) Senior Housing Program which provides affordable independent living apartments for seniors age 55+. Oakwoods East is one of 26 developments located throughout Dakota County, but is the only smoke-free building in the program.

Applicants of the CDA's Senior Housing Program must meet eligibility requirements prior to becoming a resident of the program. This includes meeting program income guidelines, providing good landlord references and passing a criminal history check. Preference is given to seniors who live, work or have immediate family living in Dakota County.
